Wellness & Annual Exams

All cats and dogs new to Crystal Mountain Animal Hospital will have a Well Check appointment. During this appointment, we will determine if there are any hidden health problems and work with you on how to best care for your animal regardless of your pet's age. If needed, we will make test and vaccination recommendations.

Please bring a completed new patient form to your first appointment.

Annual Exam

The typical annual exam includes a complete physical for your pet, fecal exams. checks for heartworm and lyme, an ehrlichia test, leukemia test, and an fiv test for cats. Vaccinations will be given at the annual exam, if needed. These exams uncover any health issues so we can work together on al care plan to support your animal in living a long and healthy life.

Laboratory Testing

We offer a comprehensive blood test for all animals. The blood test will show any hidden maladies in the liver or kidney functions as well as letting us know the best type of anesthesia to use for a particular animal. We recommend this baseline exam, to allow us to monitor and measure any changes in function as your pet ages.

In-House Pharmacy

We are a full service pharmacy and able to fill your needs on site. If you need something that we don't have on hand, we will be happy to write a prescription or call your prescription into a local pharmacy that is convenient for you.

Vaccines

At Crystal Mountain Animal Hospital we select an optimal vaccine protocol for your animal.  We do reduced frequency vaccines to support your pets overall health.

Heartworm & Flea Prevention

In this area, we need to take mosquito and flea precautions year round. We recommend your pet stay on heartworm and flea prevention all year.

Microchipping

We recommend keeping your pet properly and permanently identified with a microchip. The microchip is injected under your pet's sikin, between the shoulder blades. The procedure is similar to a vaccination and takes less than 10 seconds.

With a microchip, your pet can be identified quickly and easily by animal control officers, shelters or at veterinary hospitals. Microchips are safe, unalterable and permanent identification for pets.
